A lot has been said about the crypto winter and how it has caused many crypto startups to go broke or lay off staff. But for the Historia project, the prolonged bear market has brought more positives than negatives.
To explain why the crypto winter is such a good period for Historia, it is important to underscore the potential growth of blockchain startups.
Unlike cryptocurrency whose potential is measured by its speculative investment value, the core value of blockchain can be found by looking at its applications and what unique added value they bring to existing systems.
For instance, Historia is an application built on top of the blockchain that decentralizes history recording by providing a change log to current and future events while combating possible editing and censorship. The Historia value proposition lies in its potential to radically change how history recording is done. More specifically, Historia utilizes distributed ledger and IPFS content storage system to facilitate accurate documentation of current events as well as guaranteeing authenticity and provenance.
As you can see, blockchain technology is not represented by the crypto market and there’s a greater possibility that blockchain can actually deliver in the real world. Therefore, the fall in cryptocurrency prices is not a bad sign for blockchain based projects.
That said, we decided to build the Historia blockchain platform during this crypto winter because we believe this is the best time we can find quality talent and build great technology. With so many crypto companies laying off employees due to the prolonged bear market, this presents us with a massive opportunity to recruit high-quality blockchain developers. We can, therefore, concentrate on building the much-needed infrastructure quickly and effectively.
In addition to building our infrastructure, we are also using this crypto winter to showcase the real potential of Historia blockchain. Our goal is to build a project with a coherent value proposition and so far we have delivered on a number of promises. We also know, however, that we cannot achieve our mission without the support of the community. So staying true to the spirit of a Lean Startup, we are releasing our product in prototypes in order to give you a chance to experience it and share feedback. Furthermore, we have made all our code freely available on GitHub so that everyone to download and review.
