Bitcoin transactions taking HOURS to appear on the blockchain. What's going on?
"Hey /r/btc,

So, I've been running into some pretty serious problems lately with bitcoin. The kind of problems that make people lose faith and stop using a currency.

Mainly, my transactions simply are not going through.

Last week I sent a transaction that took nearly an hour to get a confirmation.

And right now I've been waiting on a transaction for 2 hours. It hasn't gotten a single confirmation, it's not appearing in the blockchain as sent or received.

What the hell is happening? How has bitcoin failed like this?" - Razaberry

Be thankful it was included into a block. The way things are looking, this is just the beginning.

I see and feel your pain.

Around the world, I estimate we have between 3000 to 5000 issues each day directly relating to the blocksize and fee-market. It's only getting worst, we're still in the summer, not even in fall.

Complaints from users, Day 44 (29/07/2016):

How have censorship problems affected you in Bitcoin?
"I used to wake up super excited every day to see what new exciting things were happening in the bitcoin space. Now that a free and vigorous debate is no longer allowed on the most popular discussion platforms, I wake up angry at the people involved with Bitcoin who have turned Bitcoin's open and inclusive ethos upside down. I feel deep amounts of frustration towards those like Theymos who openly promote it, and Greg Maxwell who refuses to speak out against it in any way. It makes me feel embarrassed that people like this are so deeply involved with Bitcoin. In short, not because of the slowness of scaling, but because of the censorship policies, Bitcoin has been transformed from the happiest thing in my life to a large amount of stress and frustration every day." - MemoryDealers

The biggest thing the censorship (and consequently the huge rift in the Bitcoin community it created) has done to me is it generally made me less interested and less excited about Bitcoin.
"I used to read and post nearly every day from 2014 up until early 2016. Once the shit really started to hit the fan (around the point Mike Hearn left) my enthusiasm just flat out died. The community really has become absolutely and ridiculously toxic. This doesn't create an environment where collaboration flourishes and ideas can be exchanged freely. Instead, ideas that go against certain dogma open one up to actual attacks, from assassination of character to attacks of people's online accounts and their physical machines. For this reason I frequently change my username in an attempt to protect my privacy." - Ax-of-Kindness

So all this above showed that there are a group of hackers making an internal coup of the satoshi management and road map, using stealthy soft fork to slowly morph bitcoin into something else, it is not bitcoin anymore since 2014.

So, on the expiration date of the HK stalling / non-scaling non-agreement, Viacoin scammer u/btcdrak calls a meeting with no customer-facing businesses invited (just Chinese miners & Core/Blockstream), and no solutions/agreements allowed, and no transparency (just a transcript from u/kanzure).

"If fees rise high enough, and people pay them, that sounds like a fantastic problem to have..." ~ Pieter Wuille
"How can these people have their ignorance on public display, yet still govern Bitcoin?

The answer is that it all revolves around the fear of a Hardfork. That is why they have been screaming very loudly how bad the Ethereum Hardfork is. And I would not put it past them that they are fabricating the problems for Ethereum themselves in the first place (The DAO attack, stirring up resistance to the Hardfork, pumping up ETC).

It always seemed that the main reason a HF was dangerous is because the people who said it that would make sure it is actually dangerous themselves. A self-fulfilling prophecy. It's akin to saying "smoking is dangerous because you will get burned", and then pouring gasoline over you and setting you on fire when you light up a smoke.

That's what we are dealing with. People who think they are above it all. And they can do bad things for the right reasons. Subverting consensus because they know best. " - seweso
