Why are so many users being banned in /r/btc?

I've found that /r/btc has no censorship, however - people are banned for violating moderation policies.

In this case, the user, a Blockstream Core employee, was repeatedly warned to stop violating moderation rules. Clearly, the users goal was to cause aggravation.

On /r/bitcoin, everyone is censored and users are frequently banned with-out notice. Yesterday, Erik Voorhees, CEO of Shapeshift and prominent member of the Bitcoin community, unsubscribed from /r/bitcoin due to it being a "stagnant pool of vitriol and group-think".

I obtain complaints from both reddits each day and can provide a transparent view of both.

Here is a good quote from BitcoinXio in regards to yesterday:

Sorry, but if you get banned from this sub for spamming to the point that it becomes unusable for others and then create 50 different reddit accounts to bypass that ban, your other accounts will get banned too.

To clarify another point other people keep trying to shove in our face but yet holds no water. This sub has and always will be moderated for spam, scammers, and other rule-breaking issues. We do not however moderate based on personal opinion. That is the huge difference between this sub and other subs.

They moderate based on bias and personal opinion about bitcoin. We will never silence you because your opinion is different than a moderators on how bitcoin is, was, what it could be. Everyone has a right to make their voice heard here on what bitcoin is to them. That is the difference here.

Demotruk's and at least 2 others bans have nothing to do with what is going on with pokertravis. Demo was banned for point out out that a mod was using shill account to do attacks on another site and asking if we want /r/btc moderators that carry out such attacks. The other 2 were apparently banned for asking questions about his ban. Now I don't know the entire story just happened to be talking to Demo when the entire thing unfolded but it looks pretty bad for /r/btc.

As FUBAR mentioned, it is more than just PokerTravis and his alts. Three others were banned/muted for questioning/criticizing moderators. "If you have a problem with us, leave" isn't a very good policy for a healthy discussion forum, it is just reinforcement of group think among an ever smaller circle of friends.

i will try my best to keep this place "ban-free" as far as possible. banning should be the last option when everything else failed.

It's in the mod logs. He was complaining about the flagging of his posts on steemit in chat, posted about it on /r/btc and was banned and muted. It was hidden in the middle of all the pokertravis stuff. If a mod is involved in bad behavior in other communities should it be a bannable offense to bring it up in the first place?
