There are a great number of flaws and drawbacks in LN, but to have an open discussion about it inevitably means that a blocksize increase is the only option and their silver bullet "sollution to the scaling problem" gets shelved.

Joseph Poon and LN fans keep describing the LN as if it was a real working solution to the scaling problem, ignoring all the flaws that have been pointed out to them.

I'm trying to send 17 BTC from my blockchain.info account to another address.
"Blockchain.info is choosing the transaction fee of
0.00946617 BTC for this transaction, which is $6 USD approx.

Is this fee normal?

Is there a way to edit the fee to a smaller one like $1 or $0.5 for example?" - CoinTrade

I live in Hanoi. I've been making on chain transactions few times a week for about a year, mostly as broker with a few purchases here and there. $0,15 is about 3300đ; that's the same as what average people spend for breakfast.
"For me, over past 6 months the miner fee has gone up 10 folds. Last year, I used to manual set the fee when I create transactions to get the lowest fee possible and still get in the next block. Now I have given up on that and let the wallet calculate the fee. Even with that I still have a few delayed confirms ranging from hour to days. Lately my fee per transaction is in the 2000-4000 vnd range. So that're some numbers for you." - thaolx

"They are trying to get the policy here changed so they can continue to manipulate the dialogue here. It happened on r/bitcoin and it will happen here if people aren't careful. On r/bitcoin they had it easy because they either had support of theymos or they are working for theymos.

Here they are forced to come up with more inventive tactics, like what they are doing in this thread, to allow their manipulation to work." - singularity87

No one who controls an influential forum or website should call it his own home and just care about his very own interests.
"With ownership comes responsibility. If the masses made you big, you also have to respect them, but with censorship you abuse your power. That's why I also think that corporations, for example, not only should think of their own goals and nothing else but the society that gave them the conditions to grow as well.
