Switzerland's largest online retailer Digitec Galaxus announced the start of accepting cryptocurrency this Tuesday.
According to the announcement, trading portal now accepts BCH, BSV, ETH, XRP, BNB, LTC, TRX, OMG and NEO to pay for purchases in excess of $200.
The new payment method was implemented in conjunction with the Swiss processing service Datatrans and Danish cryptostartup Coinify. The client is given 15 minutes to pay for the purchase - at this time the exchange rate of crypto in relation to Fiat does not change. Unfortunately commission for using the service of the exchange is 1.5%.
Together with today's announcement Digitec Galaxus added a section of hardware crypto wallets to its website and prepared a guide on their use.
The head of innovation, Oliver Herren, said that he was not completely sure of the advantages of blockchain technology over traditional databases.
“Maybe I just didn’t spend enough time understanding the principles of blockchain ecosystem,” - he commented.
Some other online retailers are also interested in the possibility of accepting payments with digital coins. For example, the company Overstock started working with BTC back in 2014. In addition, Rakuten, the largest e-commerce company in Japan, may even issue its own cryptocurrency.
