Can you please tell me how can I get my private key from bitcoin.com wallet?

Seems its official bitcoin wallet but there is no console or anything, its built based on chrome browser extension.

Please how can I get my private key, cause I need to include it into BitCoin ABC to get my BCCs.

I have read already that same article, but seems there is not explained how to get my private key.

Btw. seems bitcoin.com wallet experts wallet only as .json not encrypted as .dat.

I am trying now to import .json exported into bitcoin core wallet > then encrypt it > add walletpassphrase > then I should import private key right?

But I am missing private key from bitcoin.com wallet and not sure how should I actually get it? From .json maybe? If yes where is it located?

You can be my first Guinea Pig! (besides myself) I've written a guide for getting your bitcoin cash. I've spent at least 3 days researching how to claim my bitcoin cash and dealing with the wallet private keys then another 3 developing this repository to make it easier for others:

The private keys are derived from your twelve word seed. If you need the private key for a specific address, you can import the seed into another wallet to get them directly. If you have your twelve word seed, you have all your private keys.

I have my 12 seed words from bitcoin.com but when I imported them into bitcoin core or electrum wallet,

they didnt activate my bitcoin.com wallet, for example electrum wallet didnt even wanted to import my bitcoin.com wallet seeds.

I am really not sure how can atleast import them to bitcoin core wallet? I mean I already did but nothing happened. null

Hi I have the same issue, the "seed" is he 12 words, but that is not the private ket for a public key. I am trying to find out how to do that too.

Same issue here. There's no information I can find about how to get private key in WIF or BIP38 format for bitcoin.com wallet.

Just happened to play around this myself a bit.

Seed is indeed good source of private keys, and yes, this 12-word seed can be successfully used to import whole wallet to Electron Cash, however this might not work by default.

You can derive addresses from seed by different methods. Have a look at "Derivation Path" at iancoleman.io, there are parameters: purpose, coin, account and ext/int which build up "BIP32 Derivation Path", which can look like "m/44'/145'/0'/0". If you change any of these parameters, it will generate different set of addresses from the seed. It seems like the 2nd parameter ("coin"), means for which coin these addresses are generated. From what I understand BCH should be ID# 145 and BTC will have ID# 0.

And now, Electron Cash will import your Bitcoin.com seed with Derivation Path "m/44'/145'/0'/0" (#145 - Bitcoin Cash). In my case, that didn't worked though - after importing seed wallet was empty, zero transactions. Fortunately, Electron Cash allows you to set custom Derivation Path when importing seed. I changed it to "m/44'/0'/0'/0" (#0 - Bitcoin BTC) and it worked, all my Bitcoin.com BCH became available at fresh Electron Cash wallet .

Hello. My balance on Electron does not match my balance on bitcoin.com wallet after importing via seed. 3.5 BCH on bitcoin.com vs 0.005 on Electron.
Why could this be happening? I suspect it is about address format. Is it fixable?

Try this: go to your mobile Bitcoin.com app (it doesn't seem to work at desktop app), and tap: BCH wallet -> wrench icon -> More options -> Wallet addresses -> show all addresses. It should show all addresses with balance and next to each address, there should be derivation path. I had few with quite weird paths.

Hi kiltro,

The Bitcoin.com wallet application does not (at least not yet) support m/44'/145'/0'/0 or any custom derivation path (the option does exist within the app under Show advanced options when creating a new wallet, but isn't functional yet).

Note: If your wallet was created elsewhere using derivation path m/44'/145'/0'/0 your Bitcoin Cash (BCH) will not show up in your Bitcoin.com wallet app.

However, please try leaving the path as it is set by default (m/44'/0'/0') in the Bitcoin.com wallet. (Note: if you use the iancoleman mnemonic code converter (offline please) you'll have to add a forward slash and a zero (m/44'/0'/0'/0) (although I believe that's already set by default in the script).

If only some, or none, of your BCH shows up within the Bitcoin.com wallet application please try both set of instructions found here: walletsupport.bitcoin.com/article/86/funds-not-showing-bch

Sorry for this mix-up of the issue here.

Also, regarding your question about xpub/1/400 and xpub/1/414, in the Bitcoin.com wallet those (the xpub/1/) are the change addresses and the 400 and 414 are the number of the change addresses generated.

Yes. The thing is that when I set de derivation path to m/44'/0'/0' the final balance does not match my bitcoin.com. Almost all coins are gone on Electron when restore bitcoin.com wallet using seed.

Sorry to hear that.

The addresses which contain BCH balances (the ones you can see in your Bitcoin.com wallet app) can you see all of them in your Electron Cash wallet? Are addresses any missing? Or are all showing, but some with zero balances?

It looks like you've made a good amount of transactions in your BItcoin.com wallet (the number on your change addresses is 400-something).

I believe "xpub/1/400" might mean or "m/44'/0'/0'/1" and address no. 400. I'd suggest playing with https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ (offline download https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39). You can enter your seed there, exact derivation path and below you will see a table with list of addresses. By default site loads 20 addresses, but it has a button "load more ___ addresses" so you might want to use that.

I'd just try out different figures, i.e. "m/44'/0'/0'/1" and load 400+ addresses, "m/44'/145'/0'/1" and so on. By this trial an error, I have eventually found mine, and once I figured out in which path these addresses are, I successfully supplied it to Electron.

Changing the derivation path should not help unless you've previously used the same backup (seed words / mnemonic) to create another wallet by using a different derivation path (and then received BCH at some addresses generated in each wallet, because the addresses will be different).

The problem you might be experiencing in the Electron Cash wallet is the gap limit:

In your Bitcoin.com wallet app if you previously generated a lot of addresses and you didn't use more than 20 consecutively generated addresses, and then used an address, or addresses, generated after that, the addresses after a gap of 20 unused will not automatically show up when importing the seed / mnemonic into the Electron Cash wallet. You'll probably have to generate more addresses within the Electron Cash wallet until you see those addresses show up:

What a pain. Nothing works. I have generated hundreds of new addresses on Electron Cash and I still can't see the one is holding most of the funds. That address does not apears on the list of addresses on Electron Cash and it shows a path of xpub/1/400 on Bitcoin.com wallet. More ideas?

Nothing did works but I figure it out sending all my balance to a new wallet. Somehow the transaction got broadcasted into both chains directly from Bitcoin.com wallet. Thank you guys!!

Glad you solved it! Interesting that bitcoin.com wallet works like this? On Electrum Cash things were moving on 1 chain only for me.
