It is possible to find reliable bitcoin exchanges on coinmarketcap. It’s better to choose from the top 100. Although large market capitalization is not the indicator of the best exchange, you can be sure that they are not scams at least. Security measures adopted by the exchange is also an important aspect. Basic security requirements for the exchange are encrypted data, AML and KYC policies, 2fa. The best exchanges are those that use cold storages which are disconnected from the Internet. Thus, in terms of security, I prefer Kraken, CEX, Bitmex.

Frankly speaking, there is really no rocket science here that exchanges like Coinbase rates to the top followed by Binance and others. However, IF one really want to see list for best Cryptocurrency Exchanges, then check out Cryptolinks.

They are almost a Crypto dictionary that you could figure out everything and anything from. You can find all top Crypto exchanges available to see. Like I said, I prefer Coinbase which is also the best rated one there is along with Binance.

What level of security?
To secure yourself from hacking you can use the combination of hardware wallet and non-custodial exchange.

Let me explain you a few things in detail:

Choosing articles:
For any of the myths that you have, you should read good books about cryptocurrencies, follow fellows who are bitcoin evangelist like Jameson Loop - https://lopp.net/bitcoin.html. He got a curated list of all good articles for beginners, including tutorials.

Now I will tell you about exchanges
There is two type of exchanges, centralized and decentralized, it is almost impossible to use a decentralized exchange.

Decentralised Exchanges - IDEX, Etherdelta, KyberNetwork etc.
Centralised Exchanges - Binance, Bittrex, HitBtc etc.

Then there are custodial and non custodial exchanges

- Custodial are those who store your currencies with them, try to avoid custodial exchanges considering they do not provide you your private key(kind of bank account password) and there have been many cases of custodial accounts being hacked in past.

-Non-Custodial
- https://coinswitch.co/ exchange (highly rated for me), they have 400+ coins with them, and they do not store your currencies with them. Changelly, Shapeshift are few other examples of non custodial exchanges.
ok, thanks.
unfortunately I did use them and still find all not secured as much as I need.
