BTC or BCH?

Sun Jul 22, 2018 4:08 am

Hi, I am new to crypto, would like to start using it and watched some Roger's videos, so I decided to install the wallet to test it. I mined some Satoshis (BTC) on my PC and sent it to the wallet. The transaction took 20 minutes for the price of 500 Sat (0,035 USD). I don't understand why is Roger calling this performance slow, expensive and unreliable.

Try sending a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) transaction from the Bitcoin.com wallet.
You will see that the fees are always around 1.08sat/B for a standard transaction.

The BTC fees may be cheaper again now, but if the price starts to skyrocket again, and lots of people are buying and trading the network will again become too congested to handle the transaction volume, and BTC tx fees will again be around $5-$50

With the larger size of the BCH blocks, it will handle large transaction volumes without problems.
There is actually a stress test coming up soon to test what can be accomplished on the BCH network. You can find a lot of info about it here: https://stresstestbitcoin.cash/

There's really no 'best' place, try some of the reputable exchanges like kraken, gemini, binance.

Depending on where you are located you should be able to purchase Bitcoin Cash (BCH) from within the Bitcoin.com wallet by tapping on the "Buy Bitcoin" option in the home screen.
This will take you to: https://buy.bitcoin.com and this service is run by Simplex for us.

You can also purchase Bitcoin Cash using any of the exchanges listed at the link below:
https://www.bitcoincash.org/#exchanges

If you wish to trade BTC for BCH or vice-versa within the Bitcoin.com wallet, you can do so by using the ShapeShift feature found on the "Home" screen.

Thanks again, I meant buying for fiat, so Binance and others cannot be used as I cannot deposit fiat there or am I missing some new features?
Fees around 10% at https://buy.bitcoin.com/? Too high...
Coinbase offers 0.14686 fro 104 EUR
https://buy.bitcoin.com/ offers 0.14627 fro 100 EUR + 12.5 EUR fee
So Coinbase is much cheaper.
Is there any peer to peer platform?

There is a couple of peer to peer trading platforms, but i would only recommend this one:
https://localbitcoins.com/

Yes, to improve privacy it is recommended that you always use a new address for each deposit into your wallet.
You will notice that as soon as you receive a bitcoin transaction into your wallet, the receiving address will change automatically for you.

As long as you still control the private key to the address, it is still completely safe to receive a transactions into the same address as you have previously received a deposit to.

The 12 word backup phrase you are given when you first setup the wallet, is what all your public and private keys are generated from.
So just keep that backup phrase safe, and all deposits to addresses generated by the phrase will be available for you to use :)

Thanks but I am still not sure if I understad it. I am a bit punctual about these things and find it unclear and difficult to see the adresses changing so often. So what I observe is that if a wallet is empty, either new or emptied, it changes its address after receiving the first payment, am I right?. Further payments do not change the wallet address. If payments are sent from the wallet, its address is not changed. Here is the point: I would think that to send money I need to use the private key so maybe it is more secure to change the addrees for the remaining money as well, right? I cannot find any option in the wallet to do that.
