What is blockchain?
Nate Rush: What a Blockchain fundamentally is is it's a piece of infrastructure just like the internet. It's a little bit distinct because there are different ones. But in the same way that Facebook is built on top of the internet, bitcoin is an application that's built on top of the bitcoin Blockchain. You should think about Blockchain as infrastructure, for building this new class of verticals called decentralized applications which include things like bitcoin, Cryptocurrencies and Crypto assets, but also include other things, like education systems where your credentials can't be revoked so even if you get evicted from your home, because of political unrest, you can be sure you'll be able to get a job wherever you have to flee to. So that's what you should think of Blockchain: as an architecture, a protocol, a series of protocols that allow you to build decentralized applications.
