Does Sprint data service suck for you?

Thu Apr 07, 2016 7:19 pm

So this is completely off topic, but I recently switched from AT&T to Sprint as my mobile carrier. I have an iPhone6s. I used to never have problems with AT&T and my data coverage. When not on wifi, I could get data (3G) anywhere and be okay with the service and not really have any problems.

Since switching to Sprint, I literally cannot get good data service unless I'm on wifi. Anytime I'm not on wifi usually what happens is the 3G changes to 1x. A quick Google search tells me that "1x" means 2G instead of 3G. So data is running very slow when not on wifi, to the point of it being unusable. And this happens pretty much anywhere, whether I'm near my home, or far away, service is just terrible and says 1x.

Does anyone else have experience with Sprint and having bad coverage?

It's strange that you noticed any difference at all. Where I am it doesn't matter who you get your wireless from it's the same cell tower. For instance I have verizon and it goes to a verizon tower then out through at&t network. If I go across the river it is picked up by at&t tower and out though verizon network. Yes I know that sounds backwards but that's the crazy way it is here.

Interesting. I live in a big metropolitan area in the U.S., so the same logic should be the same as I'm sure there is a cell tower around every corner. I'm wondering if Sprint just sucks versus other providers?
