Decentralization has created some fascinating applications. When CryptoKitties was launched, we loved it, as this app shows that blockchain games can be fun and be played by a huge number of users. Given that fifa world cup is around the corner we have seen some blockchains games based on it, but all have a similar concept around betting or are just too complex. For us the WorldCup is all about the Country, cheering, supporting our favourite ones and keeping it simple .So, we thought of creating an awesome game which revolves around football, country, betting and came up with the idea of EtherCup2018.
The game is divided into two major components:
1. ERC721 Country Tokens
All 32 teams participating in the world cup are mapped to an ERC721 token. To own a country(token), user must purchase it by paying its price in ether, and on every purchase the country’s price increases further. When a country is purchased, the previous owner gets back whatever he had paid, plus half of the profit. Where profit is a country’s current pricesubtracted from its last price.The other half of the profit goes to the jackpot. Thus every time a country is purchased the jackpot’s value increases. User earns a share from the jackpot,depending on the country’s position in the end of the world cup.
2. Betting
It’s the easiest of all the betting game currently around. Just as simple as odds for
and against a team, whichever team wins, the users who had placed bet on that team will receive equal shares from the amount which is betted against their team. 20% of the losing side here also goes to the jackpot.
We do have the competitors in the market as football is religiously followed around the world, and this time it’s the WORLD CUP. But I am sure that we can carve our own space, a space which is simpler. User just have to buy his favourite country, if someone else buys it, he gets the profit. Otherwise, he gets a share of Jackpot which increases with each team transfer or bet placed.
We are currently live on Rinkeby test network and allowing people to try out the game, and get comfortable with the platform, so that they are ready to buy their favourite teams and place bets when we go live on Ethereum Mainnet on 10th June, 2018.
