Alpha test bug/issue reports

Fri Sep 18, 2015 7:42 pm

Hi guys,

Please let us know what oddities you might find around the forum.

We will put a summary of the ones found in this post, and fix them as soon as possible.

It's important to point out that everything on this forum is community focused. If you have suggestions on better wording on forum sections, sections missing, layout, well, anything really - then let's talk about it.

If your suggestions either makes sense to us or are backed by the users of the forum - then let's make it happen!

Feedback:
  1. Orange on category headers might be too bright.

Will test other colour schemes. We are also discussing if this is the theme to stick with, or if we should pick a more modern one that fits better with the design of bitcoin.com.
  2. Login/Register/PM/Notifications sections on orange top bar is "not ideal".
     ! Message from: Administrator
    Will be tuned!
  3. Forum descriptions are unclear.
     ! Message from: Administrator
We agree fully - consider them placeholders for now. Feel free to help us make them clear!
  4. The Social Login function needs a better description on what it actually does, so users don't have to believe that the account on this forum equals their social account. (Thank you hellobitcoinworld !)
  5. Captcha is so 1990. Security questions prevents spam better. ( Thank you robi2106 @ reddit )
     ! Message from: Administrator
Good point. Replace CAPTCHA with security questions added to the todo list.
  6. Reputation/trust system needed. (Thank you najzenmajsen !)
     ! Message from: Administator
Duly noted, and we're in agreement. Few existing modules for phpBB 3.1, and even fewer overall that is not easily abused - but we will implement one. Any phpBB module writer up for a challenge? :D
  7. Forum e-mails are plain text and standard phpBB.
     ! Message from: Administrator
Yes. These are also on the todo list, but requires some core phpBB hacking to add layout/HTML. Not ideal to be able to update the board smoothly in the future. Need to investigate more.
  8. I prefer to use a forum using my native language.
     ! Message from: Administrator
You will, for sure. For now, it's a time saver to test new designs and modules with only one language enabled.
  9. I miss forum section XYZ.
     ! Message from: Administrator
Please make a new post about your suggested forum section in this section.
Bug report:
  1. (unconfirmed) Chrome on Win 7 version "45.0.2454.93 (Official Build) m (32-bit)" and everything appears as overlapped text/images and is unreadable.
     ! Message from: Administrator
Waiting for screenshot and more details. Tested on same build on 32 bit Win7, looked good here.
  2. "Learn more" in top menu is not working as expected on all mobile devices.
     ! Message from: Administrator
New menu is being coded this weekend.
Fixed:
  1. On the registering page, we consistently misspell receiving as recieving on the btc address field.
     ! Message from: Administrator
    Corrected spelling.

When I signed up on this forum, I clicked "link to reddit account" instead of providing it with a login and password. But I would like to also be able to provide a login and password in case I delete my reddit account or something. Can this be done?

That's a really good question, note made to clarify this in the registration process. Thank you!

What you do with the social login is to confirm that your e-mail address has been verified as being yours (be it Reddit, Facebook, Twitter) - and if Reddit/Facebook/Twitter says that you are logged into their service, then it will automatically let you in on this service aswell.

The account on the forum is still local - if you try to logout and select "Forgot my password", a link will be sent to your regular e-mail address so you can change it to something of your choice and login using that method instead.

Hope this made it clearer!

Firefox + Linux mint

"Notifications" and "Private messages" are shown incorrect when visiting forum with a standard page size. I scroll a little to see the text more comfortable by pressing Ctrl + mouse wheel up and then these words are fine. When in 100% page size, these words are shifted alittle.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

When I try to login my password does not work, I reset, and am able to get in using the new password. I go to my profile, then account, and choose my own new password. I log out, I log in, it works fine.
I return the next day. Cant login. Have to reset password. Repeat.

New color scheme is nice. Keep up the good work.
