Full blocks & 4 hours and my transaction is still unconfirmed

Mon Feb 22, 2016 9:09 am

Blocks are full.

In the past 4 hours, my bitcoin transaction has not confirmed. It is a $10 usd transaction with a small fee. In the past, these kinds of transactions would have never before been delayed this long. Recently, it is getting more and more common.

I'm not worried about losing funds - the transaction will get confirmed at some point.

But, I tried to send bitcoin to purse to complete another test order. I cannot complete my order this evening, due to delays in the bitcoin transaction processing.

If this were my first experience with bitcoin, I would be done.

We really, really need bigger blocks. I just don't get that other people do not understand the urgency. Do they even use bitcoin to make payments?!?

None of these full blocks had room for my transaction...

SEPA transfers between countries using the regular bank transfer are faster, if this continues.

Woohoo, my transaction just got confirmed. Thanks, Slush.

But in all seriousness, this is just crazy. Absurd is the new normal, I fear.

Can someone call China and ask them to upgrade to Classic? Or Unlimited? Thanks ;)

Someone posted this over the weekend on reddit, but it shows in realtime the % of blocks that are full at any given time: http://fullblocks.github.io/

2-3 MB blocks with SW should solve this. LN is comming soon too. could be a rough time but it will scale.

I have had transactions held up because of a low-tx fee as well.

Do you remember dial-up, where you had to wait a few seconds up to a minute for everything to load? Like this, over time, Bitcoin will work as fast as fiber :)

If you are running a version of Bitcoin Core, stop using it. Upgrade to Bitcoin Unlimited or Classic immediately.
