Getting Paid in Bitcoin

Wed Feb 17, 2016 11:33 pm

I have been thinking for a few months now about receiving a portion of my paycheck in bitcoin now and would like to see if i can get some feedback from other members here who are already doing this.

It doesn't matter which company you do this through but In particular i would like to know if anyone has used this company: http://www.getpaidinbitcoin.com.au/ since they are an Australian company i would like to support them. Lucas Cullen (doof) is behind the company and he has done a lot of good work for the Australian bitcoin community, including sitting through a 4 hr senate hearing.

They also have a thread at the other forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic ... sg13292158

They are a great company, had to close down for awhile back in late 2014 i think it was due to some stupid Australian ruling on bitcoins at the time but have now been back in business for about a year or more.

I really liked the time i was able to use them to pay a parking fine i received once :P

I'm a freelancer in IT support & consulting and a year ago I start convincing one of my clients to pay me in BTC. We start using cashila because he didn't have any BTC or income in BTC yet. Works super fast and easy.
Now I have 3 clients that pay me directly in BTC and all my income is in BTC only (direct BTC tx or cashila).
Then 8 months ago I convinced my landlord to accept BTC for my rent. The rest of bills in fiat I pay using cashila too with BTC.
I closed my bank accounts many months ago, are useless already. If I need cash or payment in fiat I can use Xapo card but I'm trying to avoid that, I'm paying 99% in BTC directly.
The success starts with to be paid in BTC... So insist to be paid in BTC!

Did you start off receiving a small portion or just 100% from your clients?

I will be using http://www.getpaidinbitcoin.com.au/ for my converter and starting off small with about 15-20% of my pay being directed onto a paper wallet.
Who know i might change that to 80% in a few months and basically just use bitcoin for everything, i have done my research and it is easily possible.

Hopefully will have this set up soon.
Will keep you updated.

All in BTC, I don't play with change in worthless fiat currency. You can start with an intermediary that receive fiat and convert it for you in BTC (look at bitwage.co also, great services) but when your payer can aford to buy/obtain for himself BTC is better to have a direct transfer of BTC (wallet to wallet, no intermediaries). For less a bank is involved in a salary payment, better for you and your payer.
FUCK THE BANKS!

My landlord doesn't take BTC or plastic cards.
My water company doesn't take BTC or plastic cards.
My daughter's tumbling gym doesn't take BTC or plastic cards.

I still have to write a bloody check for all of these.

So set up a business where you accept bitcoin for people, and pay their water bill on their behalf!

Then use your own company.

Then sell it.

Not necessary to accept directly BTC. I pay my bills from my mycelium wallet with BTC, linked to my cashila account that is making the conversion and payment in EUR to the water/phone/electricity/others company.
If in US still there are no services like these... is time that somebody create them.

The closest we had was billpayforcoins.com. the banks backing them kept shutting them down for being Bitcoin related. Then bills didn't get paid. Then people got understandably upset. Now they're basically abandoned.

Can you pay bills by bpay in your country?

If so contact http://www.livingroomofsatoshi.com/ and ask if they can setup for overseas clients, i doubt it would be that easy but they maybe able to point you in the right direction.

Nah will be too much fees/conversions/commissions to pay a fucking water bill overseas.
I think in US they don't have services like these because the many FinTech programmers fled from NY/US to UK/EU. EU starts slower in Bitcoin innovation and adoption but will be soon the head of the train... US is too "nazi" in this matter.
