BTC Problem

Yesterday I went on the app and my BTC was gone. I thought it was glitch so I reinstalled the app. I didn’t back up my btc wallet so now I have no idea how to get my btc back. Can someone help me please?

Hi boangkanoh, if you have the newest version of the wallet you might have to go into Settings > Advanced > enable Bitcoin Core Wallet

However, when you reinstalled the application (which you indicate that you did) if you didn't use your recovery phrases (and you don't have the recovery phrases now, as you indicate that you don't) then you wallets probably wont show up at all. I say "probably" because I don't know your exact situation.

Yeah, I didn’t know back up was needed so I didn’t do it. This was a mistake. I just want to get my funds on my btc wallet back. I have a proof that I have funds on there cause I got an email from you guys that says I received funds on my btc and it shows how much was on there. I did email you guys and now I’m just waiting.

Sorry, but that's absolutely and categorically impossible. If you've lost your recovery phrase (or private keys) then your bitcoins will remain at the same address on the blockchain, forever. That's what makes Bitcoin valuable, it's a permissionless system. There's no middleman. You can be your own bank. If someone had the power to give you access again to those bitcoins then bitcoin would be worth no more than numbers in a MySQL database.

Please understand that Bitcoin itself isn't a company, just like “gold” isn't a company - this means that there isn't any official website that speaks for Bitcoin, just like there isn't an official website representing gold.

Coinbase doesn’t even need back up. I guess I won’t get my bitcoin back! This is very disappointing.

Oh by the way, this was the app fault for hiding my BTC wallet thinking it was glitch/gone.. that’s why I reinstalled the app. This wouldn’t happened if you guys didn’t change anything!

I'm sorry that you're experiencing some frustration and that you may have lost your bitcoin.

However, regarding Coinbase, they are an exchange and your account with them is sort of like a bank account. You don't don't have the final say regarding the bitcoin balance which is displayed in your coinbase account.

If coinbase shuts down, of if the site is compromised or if government regulation forces them to shut down then your balance may be gone.

Again, I'm sorry that you may have lost your bitcoin.

However, if you had backed up your wallets (i.e, written down the recovery phrases) then this would not be an issue.

By disabling btc and needing users to go to the advance settings to restore, do you think it is right? i am sure alot of users, especially those who aren't tech savvy will make this kind of mistake, all because of this stupid war between bcash and bitcoin, this is just unprofessional and uncalled for honestly.
