Dutch legislation which will give the police what they say are ‘unprecedented’ powers to hack phones and internet. Currently police are only allowed to hack into computers and phones on location, but the new law will allow them to do this remotely, as well as take photographs.

I doubt that they know in what country, ie what jurisdiction, the computer they are hacking is located.

This will probably destroy some VPN and Dutch 'offshore' hosting services. I would avoid anything with a Dutch IP address in Soviet Holland.

Unfortunately they are moving into that direction and this proposal is another step in the wrong direction too.

Politicians there are destroying the economy with their socialist agenda and 52% income tax brackets for people making a few tens of thousands of euros per year.

Or their 21% "value added" tax that adds no value only cost.

Or the car road taxes at 4x the Belgium levels for a mid size diesel sedan. On top of ridiculous taxes on petrol and diesel. And don't forget the nice one time tax of - I think in the neighbourhood of 50%) for buying a brand new car.

Did I mention the 30%-ish tax on income on your assets? But charged at 1.2% of your wealth because the government assumes you make 4% in a savings account?

You can't even die without paying rediculous levels of tax as inheritance tax.

Of course none of this is an issue for the poor, they often receive money in benefits and don't qualify for some of the taxes.


Enough for the rant. But I really wish that Soviet Holland is just a joke. It is not. If you compare it to the time of the VOC the politics of right wing VVD Rutte are much much more socialist than even the naughtiest lefty back then would have dared imagine in his wildest dreams.

From here, it is only a few steps to socialism. Democracy will lead to that. Maybe not in our lifetimes but certainly it will.

The possibility of positive change to happen in the Netherlands is a viable option. At least it could happen...
Compared to other places i lived before in like Dubai , Kuwait , Lebanon , Italy , France , and Belgium.. I find the Soviet Holland a bit more cozy
