Question regarding Purse.io

Wed Feb 10, 2016 8:04 pm

I was thinking about using Purse.io, but being haunted by a question. If my Amazon wishlist is fulfilled by a stolen credit card and the original owner starts a chanrgeback, then will Amazon file a complaint against me as I am the buyer ?

U dint even read my statement properly and made a comment? This is what happens when some idiot of Bitcointalk is given mod status and he starts thinking himself as God. Same thing has happened in Bitcointalk. I hope, Roger takes care of this situation.

This is a fair question. Most of the time, there is no issue when using Purse, but using it has resulted in home searches in the past. To counter that, purse has started offering a $10.000 customer protection guarantee to cover users against any costs related to purchasing items through its website.
"The $10,000 guarantee is broad in scope to cover any unexpected costs that may arise from using our services," he added.

The decision to roll-out the protection plan was taken after a user's home was searched as a result of a purchase he made using the marketplace six months ago.

Purse.io apologised following an internal investigation, confirming they were "truly apologetic" and "offered to compensate lawyer fees and any other expenses related to the incident".

Lee said:
"When Chesky and company were building Airbnb they did not expect meth heads to destroy a host's home. But when it happened, they dealt with it professionally and restored user confidence. At Purse we are driving mainstream adoption, and we need to meet the standards set by Airbnb, Uber and the like. We hope other companies including Coinbase and Circle follow our lead."

Wow, calm down Cowboy ;) I'm sure his comment was meant as a joke. I sense that there is a bit of history between you to at another forum, and I don't know what Acidyo was like elsewhere in the net. But from what I can tell - Acidyo acts in a manner befitting a mod over here. Just give him a chance!

Purse is very safe to use. There have been a few cases of fraud but they are handled well and I'm sure you would be reimbursed if affected.

Most people think Purse is too good to be true, but the fact is we are benefiting off of how much worse the financial system is in other parts of the world.

It isn't U.S. citizens taking a 20% loss by buying up your Amazon wishlist to get into bitcoin, it is Mechanical Turks from India trying to make a living where jobs and banking suck. They work online, get paid in Amazon cards, then use Purse to convert it to bitcoin. BTC value in Rupee is constantly going up so they barely notice the loss.

They are happy to take a partial loss to circumvent local issues, we are happy using bitcoin to save money on online purchases.

Purse is no scam, it is one of the killer apps that will drive the success of bitcoin.

As already mentioned above, Purse.io will cover any costs associated with any such issues to the value of $10,000. That being said those issues are statistically so few and far between as to make such a concern almost entirely irrelevant. Purse.io also keeps records of your purchases on your account so it can be proven that you paid for the items with Bitcoin through Purse.io.

Regarding personal differences, perhaps it would be more appropriate to take such issues to PM rather than airing such grievances here, something which will ultimately derail the thread. :|
