When you got nothing to trade, trade stories.
“As Simon Sinek says "People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it". Most successful brands are those that have created a story around themselves. Example: Apple, Coca-Cola etc. And more than anything its easier to sell a story than selling a product. Thats the reason most ads create stories rather than describing the actual product. Stories are indeed valuable than most tangible assets.”

My story is indeed valuable, not for its success , but for my failure.
After a well paid job in Holland for 4 years , my work contract was not renewed, and my dutch permit-stay was cancelled.
Since i carry the Syrian passport , i was left with no choice but to stay in Holland and ask asylum. There is no country that i can enter with out a valid Resident Viza or else i am considered a refugee.
It takes no fool to quickly decide , where will you spend your coming refuge days ? In a Netherlands Asylum Center, were there is electricity and internet? Or in Zaatari Camp in Jordan ,in a plastic / nylon tent ??
I made up my decision and headed to the Asylum Center in the Northern part of Holland. The last thing would come to mind is “How many people are applying asylum in Holland?” So much that it took me 1,5 year to finish my process. i moved between camps and was treated like any refugee.
“its like my history didnt exist in Holland, and had to do my intake process all over. ”
Changing paint color and decoration doesnt make the previous prison , a comfortable home. I had to live with the idea and get used to the surroundings. The only privacy i had were my thoughts.
I knew its a matter of time , and will get my permenant stay approved, Yet time was not on my side, and i had to kill the madness in my head.
I pursued my passion, Bitcoins and Blockchain. After encountering Bitcoins in 2012 , i was in a frequent state of euphoria.
Not because of “shrooms” bought on the Silk Road, rather to the discoveries i stumbled upon while studying and researching digital currencies.
On the bitcoin forums i read about the MOOC program offered by University of Nicosia on Digital Currencies.
I registered to the MOOCs 3 edition April 2015, and indulged in the river of info.
There was a weak wifi signal in my room (E-18) but enough to read the pdf slides, join in chats and Friday meetings on google hangouts. After three months of weekly studying , and hangout sessions with Andreas Antonopoulos, George Papageorgiou, and many more proffessionals ...
I completed my certificate of accomplishment with a full score.
It was a life changing experience.
The ordeal i went through and the accomplishment i achieved in the asylum center turned into a start up.
The combination was a success recipe for a failing system.
“my history was erased , and the previous 4 years i spent n Holland meant nothing to the immigration procedure. “
Having studied the innovation behind Bitcoin and its protocol had its impact. It opened my mind for Blockchain solutions to world class problems.
“Whether its identity protection and verification ; or authenticating certificates.
Bitcoin protocol posed its advantages. ”
I climbed my way up , attending conferences and meetups , to being a speaker in many of them.
In different occasions i met my idols.
Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi , Andreas Antonopoulos , Simon Dixon , Max Keiser , George Papageorgiou , and many more.
Bitcoin.com with its top ranking Global Moderator, and the first to vouch for me : LCG aka LiteCoinGuy ; in addition to Roger Ver (founder of Bitcoin.com) has entrusted me with its Arabic section , and i am a Global Moderator on his forum. It is my believe that Bitcoin was tailored to the needs for MENA region.
The potential of “innovation without permission” is exactly what the Middle East can benefit from, were fraud and corrupt central authority has crippled the whole region, spilling blood in all directions.
My story was on Dutch National Tv (Rtl 4) , proud with my Bitcoin pin on my chest.
It is a constant reminder to what i am made of, and were i belong.
The story doesnt end here and some surprises are in the pipeline.
i am writing mine story, so continue yours …
