Readers here at that The Bitcoin Forum may remember Shaun W. Bridges (former secret service agent) for his part in the Dread Pirate Roberts / Silk Road / Ross Ulbricht investigation.
Last year (in or around August 2015? or October 2015?) Shaun Bridges plead guilty in federal court (Northern District of California, San Francisco Disvision) to stealing approximately 800,000 bitcoins (from Silk Road) , money laundering and obstruction of justice.
Bridges (age 33) has been free on bail but was to turn himself in last Friday (Jan 29, 2016) to a prison in New Hampshire to begin serving a 71 month prison sentence.
However, it appears that Bridges might have had other plans (i.e., fleeing the country).
He was arrested the day before that date and found with the following items in his possession including (though not limited to):
1. Passport Card in his name
2. Notarized copy of his Passport (NOTE: from my experience this could be used in lieu of a passport in certain circumstances. (a) Myself I've used something like this as a form of identification to carry on my person while abroad much like I'd carry a driver's license here in the US. (b) You could also the notarized copy as part of a file in the docket of an application while abroad such as marriage, residency and citizenship applications).
3. Samsung cell phone
4. His wife (Ariana Esposito) application for citizenship in another country
5. Corporate records for offshore entities in Belize, Nevis and Mauritius
6. Bulletproof vest(s)
All of the above was written in my own words after reading today the following news articles & court filing:
