Hi DaizyR,

Welcome to the forum and welcome to bitcoin! :)

There are many ways you can buy bitcoins, buying from an exchange is one way and you can check out different exchanges here:
exchanges/

Depending on what country you are from you can link you bank account direct to a company like Coinbase and then transfer fiat cash from your bank account straight to Coinbase, once the transfer has cleared you can buy bitcoins direct from them.

You can also use places like Localbitcoins or ebay but prices are often higher and beware of scammers.

What country are you in? Maybe someone on this forum could sell you some coins direct.
Remember if trading with someone you don't know always use escrow.

If you have any more questions just ask and i will be happy to answer.

As posted above, it really depends on where you're located and what means you have at your disposal. I usually direct people to Coinbase or Circle to get started, but I also wrote a piece titled Buying Bitcoin Unbanked that has different resources that may be of help.

You can buy them face to face in an in-person trade, or buy them online using an exchange.

For in-person trades, you can use services such as LocalBitcoins, Paxful, or Mycelium Local Trader as platforms to connect you to people looking to sell bitcoins in your area.

Or you can sign up for a bitcoin exchange, get verified by tying your bank account to it, and buy bitcoins on their web platform. The exchange will match your buy order to someone who wants to sell bitcoins.

If you go with an exchange, you can find many here http://bitcoinx.io/exchanges or by country here http://bitcoinx.io/country-index

If you have more questions, please post back and anyone here in this forum can help you! :)

I usually find the prices on localbitcoins too expensive and sometimes far greater than the 'at time' value on any major exchange.
We don't want to put the newbies off bitcoin but it is a place for them to look and compare prices.

It can be more expensive, though more convenient for beginners.

If you say to me, "On the first 3 trades, it will cost you more but it will be easier". I will respond, "Understood".

If and when the additional expense annoys me, by then, I have the basic knowledge of Bitcoin, its processing times and fees. I can then make a move to buy or sell on an exchange.

Baby steps for beginners :)

I use localbitcoins.com. I met in person for my 1st purchase. A lot more expensive if you meet as cash is seen as a premium.

I am going to look for other ways to buy in the next couple of weeks.

Hey, I was in your situation 4 months ago, needing to pay product with bitcoins and no idea what a wallet is:-) (the most complicated part for me)
I used this dutch company https://bit4coin.net/ (still using it occasionally), was pretty simple, or just a bitcoin ATM, if there is any where you live, is probably the fastest way, but you have to go out;-)
