Hi,

If you want to trade BTC for altcoins you could do the following:

First visit Coinmarketcap.com and find the coin(s) that you're interested in.

Then click on any of the coins and on the next page you should see a link to their website and also a link, or tab, for the markets trading that coin.

At the coin's website you could learn of the wallet, or wallets, which support that particular coin. You'll need an address to receive coins at and a wallet will generate addresses.

By looking at the markets you'll see which exchange sites that the coin is available on. Click on any of the listed exchanges to see more information and a link to the exchange site.

Open an account on an exchange and starting trading. If you want you could leave the coins in your exchange account but would be safer to transfer to your own address. It's up to you and also depends on your intentions.

In any event, use at your own risk. I'm not endorsing any particular exchange site nor am I endorsing any particular altcoins.

Lastly, a quick and easy method for exchanging BTC for other coins is ShapeShift.io (no account required).
