Roger, please let me know when you receive the BitX-ATM and if you like it. As strange as this sounds, I have a buddy who runs a gentlemen club and would like to place a Bitcoin ATM in his establishment. His cash ATM's make more on a weekend than the vig from lap dances!!

From what I've read and heard, Lamassu has pretty bad reviews :(

I've actually been a user of BitX-ATM machines in Japan and they worked great.
For the price point, they seem like an amazing deal.

Wow, only $4.3K and no fingerprint scanning disaster!

Great find, thank you Roger :)

It would be interesting to set one up in Belize. Quick question about how to operate this, though.

Belize has a poor banking system and international transfers are often a problem. A friend realtor said that once a foreigner sells a property and wants his money anywhere outside of the country that it takes many months, that you can only send tiny bits each time with a ton of paperwork, and that banks are unwilling (unable maybe) to transfer anything above 25k usd a time.

How would operating a bitcoin ATM work when you cannot easily send money to an exchange? (Getting money into the country is not an issue.)

I am guessing that you would have to find a balance for incoming and outgoing streams - and that you could not buy bitcoins for belize dollars until someone bought belize dollars with bitcoin.

Am I missing something obvious or are bitcoin ATM machines dependant on the current banking system?
Excited about the potential of Bitcoin Cash in the beautiful country of Belize.

I have use 2 different bitcoin ATM's so far and to me the Lamassu was the easiest to use and very user friendly (a granny with dementia could buy coins)
https://lamassu.is/

Also if you go with Lamassu then you will get to vote on the ability to also sell Dash but you probably wouldn't be interested in that option.

I think I remember Sam Lee of Coinjar telling me he purchased a Lamassu brand one, It was located in a art gallery in Elsternwick, Melbourne, Vic.
But I don't know.if he ever got it working again.
If you know him you may be able to have a chat and get some of the pros and cons.

The Skyhooks ATM's: http://projectskyhook.com/ look very sleek in design, cheap and open source software:

At least the one you found doesn't have that ID Handprint scanning garbage, "Bitcoins can be sold from this machine without requiring I.D.".

That is annoying and a very scary feature to implement in any private-business device!

I dont know.of any Lamassu brand atm's that require ID scan, this is the brand i would purchase and i would even like to speak with other investers in this ATM.

There has veen some issues with Lamassu and their owners mid last year but they have been resolved now as far as i know.
I would be looking into that situation more before investing.

Anyone interested in operating a bitcoin ATM should have a read of a paper call Bitcoin ATMs 101: opportunities for the IAD.
You can get this from ATM marketplace or I can email you the PDF, it's only 40 pages so about 2mb.

It may be getting a bit outdated but helps, if anyone has something more up to date please let me know.

Im also interested in this, please keep us updated
