Bitcoin.com SEO and Web Presence

Thu Jan 07, 2016 9:37 am

Hi Folks,

We recently had a suggestion for reddit to improve our SEO title tag. https://i.imgur.com/MY7jtr1.png

Here's the original reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/3 ... asters_we/

Would love some feedback on this, if there's any SEO experts, or people interested in linking to our site.

Best,
We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done.

I'll take a stab at it... how about:

"Bitcoin.com is your premier source for everything Bitcoin related. Bitcoin is a new digital payment technology. Learn more about Bitcoin on Bitcoin.com."

Character count: 152

Recommended character count is between 150-160 characters for SERPs.

I've been linking to the forum for a while now :) Without knowing anything about the backend of this forum which is where really huge SEO improvements usually come from, by creating pretty links and the like it's hard to say if that needs to be improved. Shorting the title would be a good idea if not for SEO just to make the entire thing display on smaller windows (mobile). As far as I know though, as long as you aren't actually abusing the length of certain tags, by adding a TON of spam keywords, google will not penalize you in the search result rankings.

I like it, good start. Maybe:

"Bitcoin is a new digital payment protocol and money with open access to everyone. Visit Bitcoin.com to get started and for a complete resource on Bitcoin."
Characters: 154

or

"Bitcoin is the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Visit Bitcoin.com for a complete resource on Bitcoin."
Characters: 160

I think we've done our best with the forum. PHPBB comes with an seo package, and we had links with the title of the post to be found easier when searching, need to check why that changed. It's mostly http://bitcoin.com that we would love some suggestions on.

Maybe shorter is better:

Bitcoin: currency of the Internet.
Help spread Bitcoin by linking to everything mentioned here:
