there is a major difference between BitHalo that works without third party and Bitalo (!) that works with multi signature escrow.

Bithalo requires both parties to pay in coins into a "box" and once both parties payed in money, the box is locked. Only when both parties agree that the deal was good the box can be reopened with the confirmation of both parties. The advantage is that you do not need any third party, but it is very complicated since you have to overpay and/or even put coins in for escrow purposes, even when you are SELLING something. That is very unpractical and does not even cover all risks, like someone is dying in a car accident during the transaction.

Bitalo uses a 2 out of 3 multi-signature mechanism, which means that buyer and seller can trade without the possibility of the third party to intervene in any way in the trade, UNLESS there is a dispute. ONLY in a dispute case the third party can then either side with the buyer or the seller as neutral party for dispute resolution and small fee of 0.5%. The disadvantage of that model is, that you have a third party, but no additional coins for escrow purposes are required and it is way more simple and efficient.
