Why are my BTC and BCH receiving addresses the same?

Wed Dec 13, 2017 9:17 pm

First off! I am new to Bitcoin and all that shazam... I recently acquired a Bitcoin.com Free wallet via my Android Phone.
I have the default "Bitcoin Cash Wallet" BCH --and-- the "Bitcoin Core Wallet" BTC.

I generated a receiving address for BTC as I am trying to get someone to send me something...

But, when I generated it, at first, I generated a BCH address... No biggie, right!? Just go generate a BTC receiving address and use that.

But... they're the same!!??
WHY?

How can my wallet receiving addresses for BCH and BTC be the same? They're completely different currencies.

Now I am afraid that if I use "this address" (That has a different time stamp creation) from my BTC wallet, that it will actually be a BCH address and I will never see the BTC.

What am I missing?
What should I do?

Thanks!

Hi. That’s exactly what happened to me in blockchain wallet. They assigned me bch address which is the same as my old btc address. And now i have a feeling that i missed an incoming transfer because of this, because sender was using my old btc address which is now bch address. The transaction is confirmed on blockchain but money is not in my wallet. Need help here. If anyone has suggestions, please reply. Thx
