Hello,
Recently I experienced something quite strange and was wondering if anybody would have an explanation to offer.
I had two bitcoin wallets:
W1: containing funds acquired through mining,
W2: containing funds acquired differently (ATM)
Moving about $500 USD worth from W1 cost me $103 in transaction fees, but moving about $2200 USD worth from W2 cost me only $15 of fees. I've been trying to make some sense out of this, then I read somewhere that transaction fees can be influenced by the way the funds were previously transferred into a wallet.
So I'm wondering if it's normal that bitcoin transactions fees are higher when the coins were previously acquired through mining? If so, why?
