I think that it is unfortunate that the miners, merchants, exchanges and customers are not wielding the power that they have.
I vote for BIP101 blocks with my miners. That by itself is not enough - I don't think my miners have found a block lately (I would need a few warehouses full of machines to make a difference)... but I don't understand the passive "let's all agree to get along" mentality when there is no agreement. Vote for BIP101. Vote for something else if you think something else is better. Sure, have an open and honest dialogue. But use the power you have and don't ask for permission.
I'm not afraid of a hard fork in bitcoin. That is inherent in it's design. It's one of the reasons I like bitcoin.
That said, I do think that the scalability will get resolved. Simply because it HAS to, and I can't see miners destroying their entire investment for not making a choice. Not choosing is also a choice.
I think all avenues need to be explored: block size increases, side chains, micropayment channels - they all need to coexist for bitcoin to reach it's potential. There is no danger in increasing the block size and taking some pressure off - the rest is not ready and a solution is needed urgently.
Also, let the market fix the problems they have! If someone has bad connectivity in China - make sure they find a solution! The market is smart and will fix problems, if you let it. If you shield it from problems, it will not. I mean, really - someone can invest hundreds of millions of dollars in mining equipment and hundreds of thousands of dollars in electricity per month.... and they cannot figure out that they could rent a couple of servers at Amazon to do the blockchain work - and only send the hashes that the miners need to work on to a local server? Really? Problems will get fixed. If you let them. They will get worse, if you shield them. Stop shielding them!!
Excited about the potential of Bitcoin Cash in the beautiful country of Belize.
