Help a high school student understand Bitcoin

Today I received an email from a high school student who is interested in Bitcoin.

I'm hoping everyone can chip in and help provide him with some worthwhile answers.

that is why we are here to help beginners get to know what it bitcoin, at least they will know much of this forum, we made a thread on board BAHASA INDONESIA language specifically for beginners can be directed well, at least to boards of other languages also makes it

I'm sure that students highschool aged would be thrilled to know that they and only they have control of their money with Bitcoin. Nobody, not their teachers, parents or president can tell them what to do with it. I know that I got off on rebelling against authority (even more ) at that age so telling them that the banks and regulators have been fighting it I'm sure will also peak their interest.

In regards to why it is better than the current banking system, I take it from a moral point of view. Money has been used to control and hurt people for far too long. Bitcoin allows money (which is really just a tool for holding value and passing that on to other people to reward their work) to be completely free to the will of the holder. No politics can get in the way of a cryptographic proof, not yet.

Thanks to Roger for making this thread.

I find it very hard to get a definition of the Bitcoin which everbody can understand (set the class it's knowledge of Bitcoin at 0) and takes around 5 minutes to explain.

Can anybody help me with that one?
