Amount of USD/BTC not changing in my wallet?

Wed Dec 13, 2017 12:42 am

*EDIT* Easier question: How often is the value in your btc wallet updated? This goes for the bitcoin price chart that they have in the app as well.

I am using the Bitcoin Core wallet and made a purchase two days ago. So far the amount has not fluctuated in either direction by even a penny. Is this normal? Shouldn't it update based on live-time or at least daily?

Ex: Purchasing $100 of BTC on Monday when 1 BTC was worth $15,000 (EXAMPLE only), and returning to the wallet on Wednesday and still seeing I own $100 of bitcoin even though the stock is say $15,800?
Fyi I have been watching both the USD AND the BTC amounts and both are the exact same.

I don't know the Core wallet that well.
Maybe it shows you the value at the time of the transaction.

In any case the value shown in the Core wallet is not that important.
The value you would receive depends on the market where you are going to sell the bitcoins.

Hi Torus,
So it did change since my last post but only once so far. Isn't bitcoin.com the exchange I would sell them in if I cashed it out? Or wouldI have to transfer it to another company first to do that? If I can cash out directly with the queen.com, I agree that watching the market would help give me an approximate idea of how much each USD is approximately worth… But I would also want to keep my eye out and keep track of what each exchange is valuing bitcoins at.

I know you said the core wallet wasn't as familiar to you but just clarifying a little for other people that also run across this post.

Hello Mybitcoin088,

Sorry, it's a little difficult for me to follow everything which you are saying. In any event, if you wish to sell (or 'cash out') your bitcoin I recommend reading the following thread:
