Help out a newbie please

I have made my first btc purchase through the bitcoin.com wallet app. It was processed through Simplex, and through an emailed link I can see it in my account. However it does not appear in my wallet. When I scan the QR, it only gives me the option to send money, not receive it. What am I doing wrong?
