How to Access Your Bitcoin Cash (BCC/BCH)

Sun Nov 12, 2017 3:53 pm

Dear all,
I tried importing my "pre-bitcoin cash" fork funds using the instructions in bitcoin.com in the link below:
https://www.bitcoin.com/guides/how-to-a ... sh-bcc-bch
Unfortunately, I could not execute the last part called "Import BCC from a BTC address using the Bitcoin.com Wallet".

My "pre-bitcoin cash" fork funds were stored in a cold-storage. Hence, I do not have 12 word backup phrase (i.e. recovery phrase) for my cold-storage walled. Also, in the "bitcoin.com wallet" there is a tab that is written "File/Text". Unfortunately, I have no idea how I can use this tab.

Could you please guide me so that I can "claim" my bitcoin cash funds that were generated during the "bitcoin cash hard fork"?

Thanks in advance, and I really appreciate your help...

Sincerely,

ziko1981

Not much help on these forums, am I right? :)

I am in a much better situation than you, in terms of using a hot wallet and having a passphrase that is known, etc. However, importing the DAT file into bitcoin.com's wallet doesn't work. Error: "Could not decrypt file, check your password" is what I get get....so maybe it's best not to fuck with it any further.

I don't understand why you would say, "Not much help on these forums, am I right?"

This forum is a gimongous knowledge base.

Please use the Search box (e.g., search for "DAT file")

By doing that you may learn that a wallet.dat file is an old version and you may have trouble importing it into newer Bitcoin wallet software.

Do you have a private key as QR code?
If so you can create a normal wallet on your mobile phone and do the following:
1. click on Scan
2. scan the QR code
3. chose "Sweep paper waller"

You can't import the dat file it is only compatible with full node wallets.
You need to export the private keys and sweep the coins into the new Bitcoin.com wallet.
