Problem with importing wallet

Thu Nov 30, 2017 3:01 pm

Hi,

I've got problem with importing my wallet into "Bitcoin.com wallet".
Till now I've been using "Bitcoin core wallet" from bitcoincore.org.
the Bitcoin core is working properly but I can't have BCH on that and this is why I wanted to switch to Bitcoin.com.

I've got backup of wallet that I want to import
The import I'm doing in those steps:
1. Bitcoin core Wallet --> Import wallet
2. Tab "File/Text" --> choose file --> choose wallet.dat file
3. In the password I'm trying to provide password that I'm using on my Bitcoin Core. Password is working fine for example for sending BTC to somone
4. I've got message: Error: Could not decrypt file, check your password.

I've got also private key, that I've generated myself from "Bitcoing Core" application using same password that I'm trying to provide for import.

I've started using "Bitcoin Core" at december 2013. I'm not sure what version was that in that time ...

Can you help me with understand where problem is and how to import my wallet to get my BCH?

Regards,

Konki, I get the same error, when I am trying to import my wallet.dat file, and I KNOW my passphrase.

But, I am not giving up. So....here's the situation:

I followed instructions on
https://www.bitcoin.com/guides/how-to-a ... sh-bcc-bch
and downloaded the version: 4.0.4.-win-x64
then fire up the bitcoin.com executable,
and I cannot get past the part where I need to Import via the backup DAT file and passphrase.
Error: "Could not decrypt file, check your password"

Thanks for answer ... however it is not working on Linux (I'm using Mint - same as Ubuntu)
After your answer I've followed this:
https://www.bitcoin.com/guides/how-to-i ... ivate-keys

However I don't have possibility to insert my private key. I can just open the file on my linux ...

You can't import the wallet.dat file into a Bitcoin.com wallet. It's not compatible.

So what you're saying is that I'm out of luck to get my BCH because I used a password. Is that only the case for this wallet? Do I have other options?

Hi,

I have now edited the second link my previous reply.

If you could find a method to export the private key(s) you could then sweep the BCH into your Bitcoin.com BCH wallet.

You might also look over: technical-support/need-help-extracting- ... t9136.html

Also, just to clarify, you cannot import a wallet.dat file (regardless of password) into a Bitcoin.com wallet.
