buy bitcoin into exchange address

Sat Dec 02, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi there,

I hope you are well.
Once you are buying bitcoin from the site, it says enter address that you have full control over,
my exchange does give me a bitcoin address, so can I just enter my bitcoin address for the exchange?
Then what does it do, grant me the bitcoin and send it to that address? Or do I have to send it to my bitcoin wallet first, from bitcoin.com
Will it work out?

Thanks.

It's up to you really.

You mention "...bitcoin address for the exchange..." I assume that you mean your BTC (Bitcoin) receiving address within your account at an exchange.

That will work, absolutely, but I believe that statement you refer to "...it says enter address that you have full control over..." indicates that they'd prefer that you use a BTC (Bitcoin) address which you have complete control over.

Reason being is that at most exchanges you do not have access to the private key(s) for your BTC address(es).

Please also be extremely careful that you do NOT send Bitcoin to a Bitcoin Cash address (and vice verse, don't send Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin address).

If you don't have a wallet which supports BCH (Bitcoin Cash), or if you'd like to have your very own Bitcoin wallet (as opposed to an account at an exchange), you may download the Bitcoin.com wallet. Moreover, the Bitcoin.com wallet supports both BTC (bitcoin) and BCH (bitcoin cash):
