BCH sent accidentally to blockdozer.com, how to access?

Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:11 pm

Please help me! I am a complete newby.

I registered with Independent Reserve as my bitcoin wallet and accidentally sent out 2.338 BCH to an address which can be seen on blockdozer.com, but I have not registered with blockdozer.com. How can I get access to my BCH? How does blockdozer work? It is about 2000 Australian dollars worth BCH, have I lost it?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I can see, blockdozer simply allows you to view transactions sent and received by any users around the world. You don't need to register, and basically you will be able to see every Bitcoin address on blockdozer, not just your own.

You say you sent BCH to an address - where did you get that address from? Is it the address of another wallet you own?

Thanks for replying.

I got the address from my own wallet, I wanted to change BCH into XCT so I was told by friend to get the destination address from my wallet and sent it away. But it has not been deposited into XCT wallet.

Blockdozer is just another block explorer, it is not an exchange. If you want to trade currencies then you can do so via a bitcoin exchange or service such as https://shapeshift.io/#/coins

I really don't understand, where did you send your BCH? To which address? To a random address at that website? Where did you get that address on that page? Where did you click to obtain that address? :geek:

Blockdozer allows you to inspect blockchain. Eg. view, how much money is in some address. View transactions. Etc. It's not an exchange. These are exchanges http://www.coinparator.com/compare-exchanges/ and you can send your BCH there. Not to a blockchain explorer. If you picked up some random address on their website, you just donated your money to somebody.

Thanks for all your reply. As I did not understand how things work and did something silly I probably have paid the price. However the address was from my own wallet albeit from a different currency. I should still be the owner. Hopefully there is a way to recover it. Did not really want to get invoved in bitcoin but a friend referred me for a potential of 1% increase everyday so just put in a small amount of money and followed the step by step instructions, still made a mistake at one point and here I am. Learnt a lot already and will start from scratch.

You state in the foregoing that you "...Did not really want to get invoved in bitcoin.."

My recommendation is to be very happy that you got involved in Bitcoin.

I'm still trying to figure out, from the details you provided, what exactly you did with your Bitcoin Cash.

Are you stating that you sent Bitcoin Cash to a C-Bit (XCT) address?

If so, how did you do that?

And which wallets are you using?

To nandibear, now I am involved and will be going on. I used Independent Reserve and accidentally bought BCH instead of XCT which was the one on my friend's step by step instructions. Then I asked him how I change BCH into XCT he told me to get address from XCT deposit and copy it into withdraw destination of BCH. The result is transection was done but deposit never gone into XCT. I wrote to RI custom support they said I should contact the receiver of BCH, the question is who is the receiver? Shouldn't it still be RI under my name?

I'm not familiar independentreserve.com but I looked at their site just now.

From what I gather you:

(1) Bought Bitcoin Cash from independentreserve.com

(2) You withdrew Bitcoin Cash but you used and C-Bit (XCT) address for withdraw address?

You mention something about your name. However, identity is not tied to any of this so it's not a factor.

What is the C-Bit (XCT) address you used for your withdraw?

The C-Bit (XCT) address, is it yours? Do you have access to the private key? Or this some address you got from the same exchange?

Btw, please note to never post your private keys here on this forum or anywhere else.
