Faucet and scam

Sun Nov 01, 2015 9:11 am

It is indeed no secret that faucet is the easiest way of how bitcoin community introduce their ecosystem to beginners who want to know further about btc payment, currency model, and things around. Problem is, there also many faucet who scam, which give nothing although their user had met the certain criteria.

From my relatively short experience on bitcoin world itself, i've encountered more than enough scam to gain some lesson related to ponzi and scam. All that I can tell you, the beginners, are:

1. Don't fall into big-paying-invest-method site. Mostly won't pay after certain period of time (this called ponzi) which exactly means you'll lose your btc.
2. Spare some time to do research, it'll save your time from solving captcha to accumulate satoshis which would never be credited to your wallet. Either googling the keyword "site name" + "scam" or search the "site name" on bitcoin forums, I believe there are many generous member who will post their experience with the site and give you some insight of how legit the site is.
3. Don't forget to have some rest :D

Any other tips experienced member out there want to add?

Not all faucets are a scam my friend. Gavin started the first faucet and he is not a scammer. I am not saying there are no scammers in faucets, because there are, but most of them are legitimate sites, making a honest income.

In general faucets aren't always scams, but you do have to be careful with some of them and in a lot of cases they require a bunch of hoops to go through such as clicking ads, watching videos, and going to affiliate sites in order to even get bitcoin. It's a big waste of time for very little return.

That's why bitcoin.com made their own faucet, which you can safely know that it's not a scam and it has very little hoops to go through to get bitcoin. Try it out, it's super easy: https://free.bitcoin.com

I have only recently discovered the Faucet systems... So far, I have not yet lost anything, however, I am yet to be paid (although I have not cashed out yet. One does a weekly cashout every weekend, so I will let you know next week about it).

The process of Faucets I think I understand, but in case anyone doesn't, am I right in saying they use Google Adsense or some other Online Advertising system to generate income made by the site visitor, and in turn, give away satoshis to encourage the cycle?

If someone can better explain, that would be great, for me and for everyone else.
and this moment too shall pass

I don't think every faucet is a scam, they are a great way of introduction to BTC. The sad truth is that sometimes they give nothing and they have pop ups all the time.

I agree some faucets out there are not reliable.
However, I strongly recommend this one because it has been around for a few years now and the offers here are insane.

https://freebitco.in/?r=1882375

I'll explain the features of this site in case everyone isn't familiar.
1) Hourly claims of upto 0.02BTC are offered.
2) 50% referral commission. One of the highest out there.
3) They also offer an interest of 4.08% on your accumulated amount.

Go nuts everyone!
