OmiseGO and the unbanked population in Southeast Asia

Thu Oct 26, 2017 6:42 pm

I need to say that I'm a long-term holder of OMG (I don't trade, I simply hold it) and I believe that this is one of the hottest projects out there, especially because it focuses on a region that has a worrying percentage of unbanked population: Southeast Asia.

Even though countries like Thailand have a minor percentage and good credit card/cash card options like http://www.umayplus.com/cashcard, there is still a market for OMG, because if they can successfully reach this segment of population, then the valuation of the token will reach completely new levels.

All in all the end goal of OMG is to bank the unbanked by using Ethereum-based technology for peer-2-peer transactions, and as the end is serious and truly professional, I can only say that it is one of the best long-term holds in the market. If they reach the unbanked popultation not only of Southeast Asia but of the world, then we can only expect it to grow massively in value.

OmiseGO Fuseki Milestone Has Been Reached

‘Fuseki’ is one of the terms from the ancient board game ‘Go’, invented in China over 2,500 years ago, and is also the first milestone on the OmiseGo roadmap. The project is led by OmiseGo's Jeremy Lam and a few days ago new updates about steps in their development were posted.

Reaching the Fuseki milestone means that OmiseGO SDK has officially moved from the alfa version into closed beta. The OmiseGo SDK is a code framework on which developers can build their own wallet applications that will interact with the OmiseGo Blockchain.

Vitalik Buterin's Favourite Token Model OmiseGo

OmiseGO is a public Ethereum-based financial technology with the main instruments being OmiseGo SDK, the Decentralized Exchange (DEx) and the OmiseGo blockchain. Tools are developed by the OmiseGo team and are supported by Ethereum developers.

The main advisors from the Ethereum team are Joseph Poon, Lightning Network co-author, and Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum. This collaboration promises an interesting technical future, especially for the implementation of ‘Plasma’ into the OmiseGo blockchain. The main Plasma technology goal is to solve scalability troubles necessary for millions of transactions, which can be expected after OmiseGo starts operating in the financial world with millions of users.
