Re: Congratulations Bitcoin community. There will be no chain split. Bitcoin is stronger than ever.

I don't see why Segwit and another hard fork that increases block-size is implemented. Wouldn't such a system be more efficient and appease to more of the Bitcoin community?

segwit brings massive technical debt, far more so through a soft fork.
segwit creates 4x the loading for a potential ...

Re: forum.bitcoin.com ranks

I see. So I can give you a positive rep point? But then what is stopping someone from making another account and just spamming reputation points onto another "main" account? And if, let's say I give you 1 negative reputation, (don't worry I am not going to do that :)) will it just minus from the ...

Re: HOW do I get a bitcoin address?

I can't believe I'm going around in circles. I have my wallet, it is of no help, I try to buy a bitcoin and the purchase page wants my bitcoin address and I don't have one! I'm missing something. been going around in circles all afternoon, hit roadblocks no matter which way I turn. I'm NOT STUPID ...

Segwit

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could explain Segwit completely. I know that it separates the addresses from the actual input and moves it to a structure towards the end of a transaction. What is this structure? And how is Segwit bad? Thanks.

Re: forum.bitcoin.com ranks

Only post count we increase the rank, the reputation has nothing to do with a users rank.
If a user tries to reach a higher rank by spamming the forum then they will see their account banned.
So is reputation like a substitute for the Bitcointalk version of trust? Can I give a random person ...

You can find a list of the forum ranks here: https://forum.bitcoin.com/the-forum/forum-ranks-t3053.html
So does reputation decide your rank or post count? Sorry, the link that you provided is a tad bit hard to understand. I would really appreciate if you could simplify it for me.
Only post count ...

Re: Congratulations Bitcoin community. There will be no chain split. Bitcoin is stronger than ever.

imo Bitcoin was designed by satoshi to give this sort of attack massive chance of failure.
I'm counting on him. I'm counting on hash majority never activating segwit.

Is it the perceived attack that you're against or is the proposal to expand the transaction throughput size?

I'm against the ...

Re: Scaling Proposals Impact on Exchanges

Most of the main exchanges have released documentation on how they're going to handle the switch. It's looking more and more like nothing exciting will happen, which is a relief to all investors. But who knows???

Supposedly a small number of miners will stick with "Bitcoin Classic" on August 1st ...

Re: Scaling Proposals Impact on Exchanges

SegWit2x, BIP148 or BItcoin unlimited whosoever get activated but will they affect the Bitcoin exchanges if yes than how?
By the way, as far as I know, BIP148 is the USAF to activate Segwit2x. BIP148 is not a scaling solution, it is to be used to activate Segwit.

But anyways, if 1 or 2 splits do ...

[*] Block-size limit is enlarged.
We get a large breath of fresh air. The limit of 1 MB is removed and miners will mine up to 2 MB blocks. We allow for future growth without additional protocol upgrades until 8 MB.

Max protocol is not limited to 8 MB through this Hard Fork. For the longer term ...

Re: Bitcoin Classic and the User-Activated-Hardfork (UAHF).

So, is this UAHF happening for certain , regardless of what happens on the SegWit2x chain?

The SW 2x chain is a lot of fighting, I can't even keep track of who is accusing whom of what. Its all over and we already see the first big players ask via twitter polls if they should drop the idea of ...
