Takealot.com uses payfast as a payment processor, and payfast processes bitcoins. There are several other places that use payfast, so there are actually quite a few bitcoin accepting merchants in SA, even if it is indirectly.

I've been using Signal by Open Whisper Systems for a while now and apparently WhatsApp is using their system, so I think it's legit.

If it wasn't, Open Whisper Systems would have something to say about that methinks.

In South Africa, in my opinion, malls and high feet traffic areas are best for ATM machines.
We have had issues with ATM bombings and theft, but the security in South Africa with ATMs has adapted rather well.

I agree though. Security of the cash is a big one but there are many services in South ...

Great vid! I would say Chuck schoomer (or however one spells his name). When he was getting so upset about silk road and then promoting it by hating on it in the main steam media. SR was bitcoins first killer app.

It seems that BitX is doing what I am talking about. By the looks of it, you can pay South African bank accounts with BitCoin and it converts the funds automatically. Checking it out more.

Localbitcoins.com was the starting point for me.

I am also spreading the word of BitCoin getting friends family and colleagues to get their wallets and trade with them.
