I hope that if we really run into problems then we can get rid of this 2MB garbage and push for 8MB or 20MB. 2MB is not going to be enough either.

Totally agree.
"2 MB blocks are pathetically small.

I liked what I saw in the research from the Xthin 5-part series, and the Cornell paper - which showed that:

4 MB blocks are feasible now - on today's hardware

Xthin provides 5x scaling

Combined, this means that if we use Xthin with something like Bitcoin Unlimited, then blocks could already be 20 MB.

Classic's 2 MB proposal was a pathetic peace offering after a pathological process which had dragged on for years with toxic Core/Blockstream devs who never even wanted to negotiate in the first place." - ydtm

It is a disgraceful there are still wallets out there that don't dynamically adjust fees and allow users to set priorities with a floating fee calibrated by the network. We need to educate users to avoid these wallets to insure they have a good experience and confirmations aren't delayed.
It's disgraceful that the dynamics of the bitcoin network have changed so much that every single wallet software on the planet needs updating regularly to accommodate to the congestion caused by the artificially limited block capacity.

Who is buying today? I look at these prices every few hours and I am just waiting for these buyers to get destroyed when the network finally becomes unusuable in a few days. I would go 20x short if I weren't worried there were enough naive people willing to pay $2000 first.

Blockstream creating a Mt. Gox-like situation by not allowing more transactions/larger blocks?
"Back when the Mt. Gox debacle happened, they flooded the api and no transactions could get through. With more exchanges that can no longer be done easily.

Full blocks are effectively the same thing, no regular transactions can move efficiently.

They are creating friction in what is supposed to be a frictionless environment." - driftingatwork
