So far I've always thought of Pieter Wuille as a coder who does not participate in Bitcoin politics.
"But with that quote he has made it very clear that he is not "just a coder who takes no political position". Interesting. (He's the developer who writes the most code for the Bitcoin Core project.)

No Pieter, too high fees is not a "good problem to have". They stagnate user adoption and redirect new users to competing cryptocurrencies instead.

The fees per transaction should be as low as the system can handle. Transaction fees that are almost free, is the "good problem to have"." - todu

A group of meaningful people have left Bitcoin.
"Remember when a few good folks got crucified for making a project called Bitcoin Classic, and Bitcoin Unlimited? Now an overwhelming majority of people are screaming to have it back. I am here to say that in my professional opinion, those people are mostly not focused on Bitcoin, and probably for good. Myself included in that group. Overall, Classic and Unlimited (which worked closely together) was a nice project set up. The folks on this subreddit met it with open arms, and the guys on r/bitcoin and a gross majority of others not associated with reddit, whom I may point out have bigger voices in general via social media, crucified anyone who made another option. I am here to tell you that there is a large group that started those forward looking projects that have left bitcoin due to those people. Its one thing to say no we don't like that, its another thing to completely try to doxx it away. I'll admit I got caught in the crossfire a few times taking swings at Samson or others, however, Bitcoin is now to the point where I think it has been completely co-opted. But to what ends I am unsure. If folks really want alternative implementations, I encourage people to stop asking "why are we not forking" and simply do it. I know Tristan at Poloniex (if he still runs it) is a very open minded guy as is Bill at Bittrex. Those guys would certainly at least hear someone out on listing an alt-chain. There are still active developments going on both projects (Classic and Unlimited) and big ups to the guys still slaving away gratitude free. Tom zander is a real standup guy for sure. And Peter Rizun too. So at this point, in my professional opinion, There is no way bitcoin will change outside the plans of a few until either bitcoin dies (via sha-256 being broken or pinultimate network failure) or somebody does what Ethereum did. Most of my colleagues involved in Classic gave folks a great platform to do it on. A few minor code tweaks could get you where you would need to be." - 3xploit

But make no mistake, the miners had at all times the power to break this downwards spiral and that they did not actually act is entirely their own decision.
"The argument that they are lazy and that Core was a good leader and all that has gotten so thin that it broke weeks ago.

The bottom line is that the miners not acting has caused immeasurable losses to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Not deciding to act is also a decision." - ThomasZander

What happened to Andreas, why he changed so much to GMax?
"In today's AMA in 8btc.com, China's biggest bitcoin forum, Andeas shares what he thinks about Gmax http://8btc.com/thread-36622-1-1.html

below is his words:

"Greg is a brilliant cryptographer and a very very strong and principled advocate for privacy and decentralization. He is also a very very good programmer. I think we are lucky that he has chosen to work on bitcoin. But Greg is one person in a very broad and very diverse team of developers......"

"I think the idea that Blockstream is limiting the blocksize limit for their own gain and profit is ridiculous conspiracy shit. It has no relation to reality. "

But in this link, https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/43 ... mpact=true he said "Just got a PM from gmaxwell with the following gem, just to double-down on the tone-deaf attitude. He didn't have the brass to post it publicly of course, he's a cowardly weasel through and through..."

What happened to him? Why he changed so much?" - pangcong

Weasling yourself out of of a bind I see. You support stopping bitcoins growth dead.
"You think however many transactions are currently being made is enough for everyone. You believe in a mythical solution to the scaling problem that will probably never work as intended (LN). You believe that zero growth is a sustainable way for the ecosystem of service providers on top of bitcoin to grow. You believe that a centrally planned dictatorship of important economic issues by toxic personalities is an appropriate way to steward the project. You believe that the price of bitcoin which expresses a speculative future value can be sustained beyond levels of cents on the dollar with zero growth prospect. You believe that not satisfying demand for reasonably priced transactions is a good thing. You believe that limiting money velocity by central fiat is a good thing. You believe that censorship of important topics is an appropriate way to manage a community. You believe that bitcoin can stay relevant with zero growth amidst the sea of other cryptocurrencies. You believe that 10 years from now bitcoin will still express 80% of the cryptocurrency market without any actual growth. You believe in santa clause. And you are Andreas Antonopoulos." - pyalot
