The right to fork. It's a human right. It's a right because any group of sufficient size has defectors (to use Bruce Schneier speak.) With enough time and a guaranteed right to fork any organization will reach a consensus acceptable solution.

Open source licences actually protect the right to fork enforced by copyright law. Wrote a paper on how this leads to a type one civilization if we follow through. http://civgene.matthewnewhall.com/papers/Type-one.html
