24 hrs+ with 0 confirmations on transfer from Blockchain to CoinBase. Plz Help!

Wed May 10, 2017 10:54 pm

Hello,

I am making a substantial transfer from Blockchain to Coinbase and still have 0 confirmations from both sides. The status has been pending for over 24 hours. If anyone can please help with a solution to speeding up the process, it has become quite frustrating. Thank you!!

That is indeed the transaction ID. :)

The Bitcoin network is unfortunately quite congested lately due to issues beyond the average Bitcoiner's control. As a result at times of high congestion the transaction fee required for timely inclusion of your transaction in a block (this is how Bitcoin ensures that transactions are immutable and irreversible) is higher than usual.

An excellent resource for determining the appropriate transaction fee at any given time is https://bitcoinfees.21.co

I have also run your transaction through ViaBTC's transaction accelerator (an 'emergency' service provided by a generous Bitcoin mining pool) so your transaction should be included in the next block. To prevent this situation occurring in future please be sure to add an optimal transaction fee when making a transaction.

Seems like putting it through ViaBTC did the trick. The transaction was confirmed a couple of minutes ago. My tip for next time is to use a higher fee. A easy tip I know is to go onto cointape.com (This redirects to the link that Fremont gave you).

Blockchain, if I remember correctly, will tell you the transaction size before sending. You then multiply the size of the transaction by the optimal amount given by the website, and your transaction should go through within the next one or two blocks.

YOU are AWESOME! Thank you for the support, I was just trying to figure out how to use the Via accelerator, but you have already taken care of it! I will definitely check for an appropriate fee next time and make the adjustment. Blockchain did it automatically but I now realize there is a manual option. Thanks again!

That's what i needed.
It should confirm today, the fee you added (120 sat/B) is a little on the low side but still enough for it to be mined.

In future check a site like this one to see what the optimal fee should be set at: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

To speed up this transaction i will add it to the viabtc tx accelerator for you.

Edit: Looks like Fremont beat me to it, thanks mate.

Thanks for all the help, the money has gone through. Big relief, what a useful forum!

I am looking at the link for determining the proper fee amount but it is a little confusing for a noob like me. Are there any general rules of thumb for using a slightly higher fee for extra measure in speeding up the mining process? I will be making more transfers this week and would like to avoid this issue.

Or perhaps a brief explanation of how to use the site? Don't want to trouble you folks too much. Thanks again!

The easiest way to navigate the site for a beginner would be to look at their support page: https://support.21.co/bitcoin#transactions-and-fees
Especially have a read of the page What fee should I pay?

Another site with some useful bitcoin tools is: http://www.mocacinno.com/index.php - mocacinno is also a members here and helps out users often.

Further down from the chart it will say something like "The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 220 satoshis/byte". Once you have this, you need to find the size of your to-be transaction. Some wallets will tell you the size (Good ones will), but others wont. You might have to try and "eyeball" it.

180 * Amount_of_inputs + 34 * Amount_of_outputs + 10 will get you your transaction size.

The amount of inputs are how many bitcoin transactions make up the amount of bitcoin you are spending.

The amount of outputs is the places where your bitcoin is going. Usually, it's how many addresses you are sending to, and then if you are not spending all your bitcoin, then you add one (Your bitcoin comes out of your wallet, then the "change" goes back in)

The paid accelerator I used "BTCSpeedy.com" may work for some. But for me, they took my money and did not accelerator anything - except for the transaction I used to pay them. I paid them a hair over four bucks: https://blockchain.info/tx/f48300bc3ee8 ... f451efb836

I needed them to push this: https://blockchain.info/tx/64a166ff066a ... 6a0f84cc2c - I know there is a free service, but this is the message that I get at "Submissions are beyond limit. Please try later."Yes, I try at :00 and :01 and :02. That's why I tried BTCSpeedy.Com. To no avail. I've now tried contacting mining pools offering to pay them to accelerator, but to no avail....

I am now waiting for my unconfirmed transaction to drop off the network so I can see the BTC back in my wallet

Try in Viabtc accelerator, Mine was stuck on 3 days but today its mined with viabtc, i have done with that https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

But you must be luck as me because per hour 100 transaction they put on their pool free of service.

I ended up using them and it WORKED! But the trick is you need to be there at the :00 mark. Or at the :00:10 mark. In other words, right after the hour has changed - like now.... and thank you!

It is better to avoid struck transactions than to have to fix them. I see more complaints from users of blockchain.info wallet than any other, that wallet does a really bad job of estimating fees.

Use Electrum instead. It has dynamic fees, and if you set the fee slider to high you should never have a stuck transaction. If you want to go cheap on fees Electrum gives you a safety net: you can enable 'replace by fee' and send a transaction 'replaceable'.

If you set the fee too low you can then click on the transaction and bump the fee up. No need to use an accelerator, you do it yourself. But you do need to enable replace by fee in settings and check the box marked 'replaceable' when you make a transaction. Electrum works on Android as well as desktop.

That's funny because i have only heard bad things about bitspeedy, you have only posted twice here and both were to promote their service, do you work for them or own the site?

There are a lot of paid transaction accelerators out in the market but i would guess that about 95% of them are just scams that take your btc and either do nothing or just use the ViaBTC free service to push the transaction you paid for.
