funds sent to BTC address went to BCH address

Thu Dec 07, 2017 9:09 pm

Greetings Today was my first bitcoin purchase from an ATM machine and I believe there might be some kind of error with my Bitcoin.com wallet that I set up recently.

Today when I was at a Bitcoin ATM I made double sure to scan my BTC address for my deposit and NOT my BCH address. When I looked at my receipt it showed that my BCH wallet address was used as the address.. To my relief, the purchased coins were deposited into my BTC wallet address about 10 minutes later. This seemed odd, but none the less my funds seemed secure.

Shortly after this first deposit I went to a second Bitcoin ATM machine (since the first machine was sold out) to buy another $630 worth of BTC coins. This time, again, I made sure to scan the BTC address. The receipt then showed that the funds went into the BTC wallet address but now almost an hour later the funds have not shown up.

A similar thing happened to me when I sent money from an exchange to my wallet. I sent to the BCH by mistake but it showed up in my BTC.

So, I wanted to ask about how I might access the coins from this second deposit if it is not showing up in my BTC wallet?

Thanks for your time

The Bitcoin (SegWit) network is currently congested and thus transactions can take much longer to confirm or might never confirm.

Check if the transaction to yout address has been confirmed using the block explorer.
BTC: https://explorer.bitcoin.com/btc

If the transaction is not yet confirmed you can try a tx accelerator to get them confirmed quicker.

If the tx is not confirmed within 14 days it will be removed from the mempool.
I don't know what the ATM provider will do in this case. He could either send it again or you might have to contact them to get a refund.
