Last week during a peak period of bitcoin trading in Japanese Yen (JPY), the bitcoin exchange Zaif set a new record for themselves for the amount of funds traded during a 24 hour period. According to their corporate blog, Zaif exceeded 45,000 BTC trading, which converts to $19 million in US Dollars or $20 billion Yen.

Yeah, it's cool but I wish I knew why. The only "big" news is Kraken seed funding, but I don't think that's it. Any other news that may be pushing the local volume there?noticed that too, Japan is going crazy again

yeah, finally they have 2-3 exchanges and one got some funding recently. but the volume is still laughable = HUGE opportunities over there!
