ASIC chip for tx validation?

Thu Feb 04, 2016 2:02 am

I'm thinking out loud here. How easy would it be for am asic manufacturer to produce an asic that does transaction validation?

It would not need to be anywhere near as powerful as the mining asics. So I assume it could just be a USB stick.

TX validation (needed also for block validation) will be one of the future bottlenecks. But rather than needing to buy massive servers - what if a $100 USB stick could do the same?

I guess it will first start with a GPU assisted verification software, you don't really need that amount of calculation power since the growth in traffic is not as fast as difficulty

I agree that gpu assisted software will be a likely next step. I wonder if anyone is working on that and if we can donate to fund this development.

It is not a bottleneck yet, and a large performance increase has already been achieved recently. But it will be one if the earlier next issues I think.
