Social Attacks on Decentralization

Sun Sep 10, 2017 4:42 pm

Alyse Killeen gave an interesting talk at the Breaking Bitcoin conference about social attacks on decentralization.

It seems to me that social pressures are going to be a much bigger risk for Bitcoin in the near future than any technical attacks (such as a 51% attack). We've already seen this with Bitcoin Cash and SegWit2x, where different groups of people are competing to call themselves authorities and take ownership of the Bitcoin concept.

Has anyone else watched the talk? Do you agree with the types of attacks described by Alyse?

Thanks! Although it seems playback on other websites has been disabled, so it can't be embedded :(

The whole event is worth checking out, but the link jumps straight to the point where Alyse's talk starts.
