Would appreciate knowing the format of the bitcoind password in Oct 2010 to create the Private Key.
Was the password format 12 words or a password typed in by the user? Thanks for your help.

Do you mean how was the recovery phrase generated?
I don't believe bitcoind would have used recovery keys (because it's for connecting to the Bitcoin network, not a wallet in itself). But the current standard for generating recovery phrases is BIP39. This standard wasn't introduced until 2013, so it wouldn't have been integrated into any wallet software officially before then.
