What’s hot in South Korea — What do the Koreans know that we don’t?

Sun Apr 29, 2018 9:34 pm

South Korea is also known as the crypto incubator of Asia — It seems these days that what ever coin we see listing on a Korean exchange is guaranteed to drastically increase in trade volume and consequently the price. Koreans have their favorites, and whatever is favoured in Korea is almost certainly to succeed.

ICON (ICX)

The coin supreme in South Korea is undisputedly ICON (ICX). ICON is one of the largest blockchain networks in the world. ICON boasts independent blockchains comprised of reputable institutions in major industries. ICON aims to build a decentralised network that allows independent blockchains with different governances to transact with one another without intermediaries. Recently South Koreans are extremely supportive of Icon founder, Min Kim’s decision to make ICON less speculative (by forcing out Ian Balina) and deliver real world value.

Mithril (MITH)

I’ve been researching on what’s the next hot coin out of Korea and saw Mithril dominating the trade volume at $145 million per day. This project is rated one of the best performing cryptocurrency of 2018. Mithril is building the a decentralised ecosystem of social networks that rewards users for simply posting and sharing. They have already built a working platform called Lit — a decentralised Instagram. Now you might ask how is this different from Steem or other social networks? Simple answer: it’s backed by Jeff Huang and his army of Celebrities

Who is Jeff Huang (Machi Big Brother)

Jeff Huang (黃立成) is an A list celebrity in Asia— like the Arnold Schwarzenegger or even Will Smith. Being a big Hip Hop celebrity, Jeff has personally performed with all the top talent in Asia. Jeff is also a talent manager, he’s THE person to see in Asia for any blossoming stars.

The Jeff Huang Effect

Mithril is not the first major success of Jeff. In the past few years, Jeff made the most popular live streaming app in Asia, 17 Media. The app is now the TOP most downloaded streaming app in Asia, according to app annie. Jeff has a proven track record of dominating in the social media space and his entry into blockchain is seen as a major turning point in Crypto adoption.

There is a huge market in South Korea, I think the biggest reason for MITH to get such returns is that it is amongst the FIRST that has taken the grip over the market. It is basically like the BITCOIN of South Korea. I see many others coming up but this is a really good bet even now!
