If the internet goes down won't we lose our bitcoins or other cryptocurrency?

Sun Dec 24, 2017 1:32 am

Hi folks,

I am very new to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. I am trying to understand how they work.

What happens to bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies if the internet goes down?

Here is an article from the Washington Post which explains that Russian submarines have been spending a lot of time near the underground cables that carry our internet services. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/eu ... 44b866b468 The Russians could cut those cables and then we could have no internet, or greatly curtailed internet, as far as I can tell. It seems to me that this whole cryptocurrency thing - and all of the investors' wealth which is tied up in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies - could just disappear overnight if someone cut those cables or if our wonderful (not) government declared an "emergency" and cut off the internet, as they have done on some countries.

Does anyone know about this?

Regards,

Vincent

A chance of internet going down is as high as chance of Alien visiting earth. I believe we should be least concern about these factors. All, we should be concerned about is to make investment in right option, as that is what will get us best rewards. Look no further, it is BiTTo that is really taking you to a different league altogether.

BiTTo is not just another exchange platform, but it is a platform that offers you EVERYTHING in one roof. From staking, lending, borrowing, trading and referral system, it all ensures that one got continue on earning in MAJOR way. Hi Rightchoice,

Thanks for your response. I included in my post an article from the New York Times showing that Russian Submarines have been prowling around the undersea cables that carry the internet for the USA. NATO is afraid the Russians will cut those cables, according to the article. Why couldn't they? Why do you say it is so unlikely? The article also explains that the Russians have a submarine which carries smaller submarines, presumably ones that can do things like cutting cables. I don't see why this could not happen.

Regarding BiTTo, is that a currency, like Bitcoin? It seems to be something else. Is it an exchange market? You provided a link to a website BiTTo.tech. I will take a look at that and read a bit about it.

Regards,

Vincent
