GPU mining ccminer troubles

Mon Nov 27, 2017 12:13 pm

Hi everyone.

I'm new to mining and trying to mine different currencies.
On CPU it works OK, but I cant find a way how to mine on my GPU.
My GPU is old, but as I understand it can mine and even it tries to mine, but I've got no result in my minergate panel.
I'm trying to run ccminer in CLI:
ccminer -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://bcn.pool.minergate.com:45560 -u <mymail> -p x
It doesnt work, becauses it says that not enough video memory, so I ran it with -l 2x4 and -l 7x16
ccminer -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://bcn.pool.minergate.com:45560 -u <mymail> -p x -l 7x16

[2017-11-27 12:59:21] Ignoring algo switch, this program does only cryptonight now.

It seems to be running ok, but I see no coins and no shares at minergate panel for hours. So it's mining to nowhere?
What should I do?

Jesus thats an old card.

If you're looking to mine, I highly doubt you'll get a return, let along make a profit mining. The electricity required per hash for older generation cards are insane.

I haven't used minergate before, but is there a possibility your hash rate is being rounded down, or your profits are so negligible they won't show up until it amasses into something that will actually display?

I'm not going to specially turn on PC for the ming. PC is running all day and I thought it would be nice if something would mine in the backgroud. CPU is not loading too much even in with 2 threads, so GPU could do something too. But it's mining to nowhere as I see. How can it be?

My point is that mining, even when you are using the computer and the card is a secondary, will not be profitable. You're pumping electricity into a card that will produce near zero returns.

Your card is reporting that it's mining, so the hashes should show up on your account. Either your hashpower is being rounded down, or you've misconfigured ccminer.

Electricity is not important for now to me. I'm just interested test if my card can mine or not. Is there some way to run some miners on some pools for some coins to mine on GTS 250?
